How this site is funded

We don't get paid when you click a link, apply for a loan, or close one. RESPA Section 8 (12 U.S.C. 2607) prohibits giving or accepting any fee, kickback or thing of value for referring settlement-service business on a federally related mortgage loan, and prohibits unearned fee splits.

Who we list and link to

When an originator fails our standard, we'll report that in aggregate — "X of Y originators checked this round passed" — rather than naming the specific person or business. A passing verdict is different — we're naming an originator for meeting objective, checkable requirements, not accusing anyone of anything.

Rankings and reviews are never sold

No paid rankings. Pass or fail is never for sale. We never sell rankings or placements. We don't publish rankings or 'best' lists, and no one can pay to appear on the site.

Requesting a review

Reviews are free, submitting doesn't guarantee a listing or a pass, and we never take payment. Submitting a request doesn't guarantee that we'll review it, list it, or that it will pass.

No advertising is accepted and no payment is taken for placement in the Register or the Library — see our editorial policy.
